Connect HILTES with Amazon: a guide for shoe and fashion retailers

You manage items, sizes and stock in HILTES and want to offer part of it on Amazon? This guide shows what Amazon expects from you, which data the DezemberHub Connector can take over from your export and how the review before the start works.

In three steps you review and set up the route from your HILTES inventory management to Amazon: an initial consultation with a review of the export, mapping with test items, and expansion. According to the vendor, HILTES itself lists Amazon among its implemented marketplace connections (as of February 2023, source: hiltes.com, Omni-Channel page). The DezemberHub Connector connects existing inventory management systems with over 50 marketplaces, including Amazon, and can be an additional route: it can take over items, sizes, colors, stock and prices from a file export, provided your export contains EAN, size, color, stock and price per variant. HILTES remains your leading system.

According to the vendor, HILTES is the inventory management system of HILTES Software GmbH from Leer (East Frisia). According to the vendor, there is a standardized import and export interface for connecting web shops and marketplaces, through which stock and sales are exchanged, plus an FTP transfer (source: hiltes.com, Omni-Channel page, retrieved October 2026). The DezemberHub Connector is vendor-independent and works with file exports, for example CSV via SFTP, or a REST API. There is no dedicated HILTES adapter; together we check before the start whether and how your installation provides the required data.

DezemberHub is the inventory management system with POS and AI assistant for shoe, fashion and sports retail in the DACH region. The DezemberHub Connector is our second product and can run independently alongside your existing system. HILTES remains your leading system. Before running in parallel, we agree which connection manages stock, prices and orders, so that nothing is duplicated.

What does a HILTES retailer need to sell on Amazon?

Before the first item goes online, these points should be settled. Most of them concern your Amazon account and your item data, not the technology:

  • An Amazon Seller Central account on the Professional plan. According to Amazon it costs €39 per month plus VAT and is required for automated integrations.
  • A valid EAN/GTIN per size and colour plus a brand name. If you carry private labels without barcodes, clarify the approval in Seller Central beforehand.
  • Item data with title, description and images. Amazon specifies general and category-specific requirements for main images; for the zoom function Amazon recommends at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side, and main images for shoes and clothing on a white background (source: Amazon Seller Central, product image requirements).
  • The category-specific required attributes for shoes and clothing, such as the size according to the values Amazon specifies in the category, and the colour.
  • Stock and sales prices per variant, plus a decision on whether you ship yourself or Amazon handles shipping.
  • Shipping settings and return policies, which you set up in Seller Central.

According to Amazon, the fees depend on factors such as category, selling price and shipping model; different rates apply to certain Prime offers. For shoes, Amazon charges a 15 % referral fee on the total price including shipping, at least €0.30 per item. For clothing, a tiered scale applies: 5 % up to €15, 10 % above €15 up to €20 and 15 % above €20 selling price. As of: June 2026, source: sell.amazon.de, pricing.

Which data does the Connector take from your export?

The Connector can work with the export and import options of your inventory management, for example via file exchange (CSV) over SFTP, provided your export contains EAN, size, color, stock and price per variant. Before the start, we check whether and how this fits your installation based on the export format and required fields. From a suitable export, the Connector can take over this data:

Items and master data

Item number, name, brand, product group, EAN and material details. DezemberHub can map them to the matching Amazon categories and attributes; we check the mapping for each installation.

Sizes and colours

Each size-color combination with its own EAN. If this data is complete, it can form the variant structure that Amazon expects for shoes and clothing.

Inventory

Stock per variant, combined from several branches if you like, provided the export contains it per branch. You decide which branches sell online and can hold back a safety stock per item.

Pricing

Selling prices from the inventory management, provided the export contains them per variant. For Amazon you can set your own channel prices or pricing rules, for example to factor in the referral fee.

How are variants and sizes built for Amazon?

Amazon groups the variants of a model under a parent item and lists each size and colour combination as a separate offer below it (child). Customers thus see one product with a size and colour selection instead of twenty separate results.

If model, variants and EAN are fully contained in the export, the Connector can build this structure from your export data: the model becomes the parent, each variant with its EAN a child. If the item already exists on Amazon, your offer can be attached to the existing ASIN via the EAN. Size values such as 38, 38.5 or M can be mapped to the values Amazon specifies in the respective category. We check the mapping for each installation and define it together with you during setup.

How do Amazon orders get back into your store?

There are two routes for orders, and you can also combine them:

As an import file for your inventory management system

The Connector can provide new Amazon orders as a file that you can take over via the import options of your inventory management, provided your installation offers a suitable import for this. We agree on the format and process with you before the start.

Process directly in DezemberHub

Alternatively, you process orders in the DezemberHub interface: create the invoice, print the shipping label and send the tracking number to Amazon.

Own shipping or FBA: what is the difference?

With merchant fulfillment (Fulfillment by Merchant, FBM) you ship the goods yourself from your store or warehouse. DezemberHub can provide the shipping labels for this and report the tracking number back to Amazon.

With Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) you store goods at Amazon, and Amazon handles shipping. Separate FBA fees apply: according to Amazon, storage space for non-dangerous standard-size products from the fashion categories costs €19.99 per cubic meter per month from January to September and €29.23 from October to December (as of: June 2026); further FBA fees may apply. Both models can be used in parallel with the Connector, and stock can be synchronized for both.

How does the start with the Connector work?

1

Sign up and initial call

All you need to start is your email address. In the initial consultation we look at your item structure and check which export route fits your installation and whether the export format and required fields are sufficient.

2

Mapping and test items

As far as the export data allows, we map categories, sizes and attributes and transfer a small selection first. Stock synchronization and the order route are checked before more goods go online.

3

Expansion with personal support

Once the selection runs smoothly, you add more product groups. We remain your contact, even when further marketplaces are added later.

What does the Amazon integration cost for HILTES retailers?

Selling online via the DezemberHub Connector is an optional, usage-based add-on without a minimum volume. You get the price on request, tailored to your range and your channels. You pay the Amazon fees directly to Amazon. See pricing and plans

Frequently asked questions about the Amazon integration for HILTES

Do I need a new inventory management system for Amazon?

No. HILTES remains your leading inventory management system. The DezemberHub Connector can work alongside it, take over items, stock and prices from a file export and provide Amazon orders as an import file or for processing in DezemberHub, provided the export contains the required fields. We check this in advance for each installation.

Doesn't HILTES already have its own marketplace integrations?

According to the vendor, HILTES lists Amazon and Otto among its implemented marketplace connections (as of February 2023, source: hiltes.com, Omni-Channel page, retrieved October 2026). The DezemberHub Connector can be an additional route; we clarify in advance whether running in parallel with your existing connections fits.

Does DezemberHub work with HILTES?

No. DezemberHub is an independent product and has no business relationship with HILTES Software GmbH. There is no dedicated HILTES adapter. The Connector can work with the export and import options of your inventory management, for example CSV files via SFTP; together we check in advance whether your installation provides the required data.

Can I also connect OTTO Market?

Yes. With the same Connector you can connect OTTO Market, Zalando, Kaufland and eBay in addition to Amazon, with one shared stock for all channels. How this works for OTTO is described in our article on the OTTO integration for HILTES retailers.

Can I use own shipping and FBA at the same time?

Yes. The DezemberHub Connector supports Fulfillment by Merchant and Fulfillment by Amazon in parallel. With own shipping you get the shipping labels and the tracking number goes to Amazon; with FBA, Amazon handles storage and shipping for separate fees.

What if I want to switch my inventory management system?

Then you can take a look at DezemberHub as an inventory management system with POS. Your Amazon integration via the Connector keeps running if you switch. Our comparison page on the HILTES alternative gives a factual overview, and the 30-day trial starts with your email address.
